FEMME-FRONTED ACTS AT NORTH COAST MUSIC FESTIVAL 2023

A North Coast Music Festival is a 3-day experience that runs from September 1st to the 3rd. It features a diverse lineup with over 100 artists performing across four stages, amazing costumed performers, art installations, shops, and interactive experiences.

Returning for the 13th year with another stacked roster of headliners, Lane 8MarshmelloGanja White Night, Zed’s DeadFlume, and Alesso, it doesn’t matter what genre you are into. There is something for everyone. You can check out the lineup below and at their website!

ALISON WONDERLAND

Australian electronic dance music producer, DJ, and singer is one of the most popular female electronic artists and is making her debut and headlining at North Coast. Known for promoting inclusivity and empowerment as a part of her artistry and has been vocal about her struggles with mental health. She uses her platform to raise awareness and promote positive messages of self-acceptance, self-care, and embracing individuality.

She always delivers electrifying sets that are sure to get the crowd moving. Her stage presence and connection with the audience create an immersive experience that leaves a lasting impact. Her music incorporates various electronic moods, from heavy bass drops to catchy melodies, and her live performances often feature unique and cutting-edge production techniques.

A HUNDRED DRUMS

Rising bass producer, A Hundred Drums, blends indigenous percussion with psychedelic bass. She is using her platform to express her political ideas and struggles. With powerful vibrations and heavy emphasis on indigenous hand drums and low-frequency bass, A Hundred Drums runs her sets with pulsating energy. The high-octane live show is a result of years of searching for that perfect primal pulse that connects humans on the dance floor. Gabrielle Watson has been cultivating a sound where the hums and vibrations seep into the listener as the sounds connect them on a common wavelength. A celebrated psychedelic bass artist, her creative past in future bass and techno speaks to her versatility in style.

BLOND:ISH

Canadian duo that has made considerable waves in electronic music from Montréal to Tokyo, leaving people everywhere wanting more. Vivi -Ann and Anastascia have released a string of remixes and originals from their work together and with other top DJs/producers. Track titles include “Love Blind,” “Missing You,” “Vudu,” and “Lucky Ducky.’ After only three years together, they climbed to the top of the International House Scene.

ALUNA

After coming into prominence as one-half of the UK electronic duo AlunaGeorge, Aluna has established herself as a solo artist and is propelling global electronic sounds into the future. The vocalist has been expanding a niche in which American, British, and African histories collide. Championing producers at the forefront of emerging and established genres, Aluna remains an accomplished collaborator with her recognizable silvery tones. Yet fresh insights now fuel her extensive vocal and songwriting skillset, asserting her as a creative force in her own right.

CANABLISS

A self-taught musician has quickly become one of the hottest names in the bass scene. Canabliss’ sound floats between experimental and future bass, creating a distinctive sound. The rapidly rising bass artist has seen tremendous success in such little time. It’s only a matter of time before Canabliss becomes a leading name.

Throughout 2023, Canabliss has been on the move. She performed at major festivals, including Friendship, ULTRA Miami, Lightning in a Bottle, and Sunset Music Festival. And now North Coast.

CARO ARROBA

Currently making music in Chicago, Quito, Ecuador-hailing producer Caro Arroba describes her music as “tech house Andino — exploring the relation between mind, nature and machines” and presents this as exhilarating sound tributes to the indigenous peoples of Ecuador. She samples traditional Pre-Colombian rhythms using Andean instruments like tollosquenachos, and ocarinas. Then loops these, randomly or in sequence, into techno and house, creating musical time travel.

CZBOOGIE

Not only does she DJ, but she is also the Editor & Publisher of 5 Magazine. She is Based in Chicago and aims to keep the House music scene alive through as many avenues as possible.

Czboogie’s style of Disco-infused House music has made her an in-demand DJ all over Chicago. She has had DJ residencies at Smartbar, Grandbar, Hydrate, 3 Degrees at Primary, Circuit, Evil Olive, Crocodile, Uptown Lounge, Cocktail, Drop Chicago, and the legendary Boom Boom Room (the longest-running House night in the world.) One of the highlights was her Nu-Breed Residency with world-class House legends Cajmere and Chez Damier at Smartbar.

ELOHIM

An L.A.-based one-woman show, ELOHIM is an electronic/alternative act that guarantees to grab your attention and not let go. She is the entire package – Singer, Songwriter, Musician, Producer, and DJ with a unique and intriguing vision for her music. Her musical style is defined by her celestial vocals, evocative melodies, and atmospheric production.

She creates an ethereal and emotionally resonant soundscape by employing an array of electronic elements such as synthesizers, samples, and beats. Transporting listeners to otherworldly realms can change the energy in a blink of an eye. You will be serenaded in one moment by her melodic voice, and then the next, you are head-banging.

EVAN GIIA

Fusing her passion for electronic and pop music, she has made a name for herself in dance music. Her single “Westworld” garnered millions of streams online after being released by ODESZA’S Foreign Family Collective. Her first notable song was “Heat of The Moment” with music duo MEMBA, which was selected as the singles of the week by BBC Radio 1 in 2016. In September 2022, GIIA’s Don’t Let Me Let Go ( with Dillion Francis and Illenium) secured the number one position on US Dance Radio.

She has performed at festivals like Coachella, EDC, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Electric Forest. And has shared stages with ODESZA, Illenium, Dillon Francis, Louis The Child, Alison Wonderland, Jai Wolf, What So Not, and Big Wild.

DJ ALISSA JO

Alissa Jo is a DJ, producer, and founder of the wellness experience brand Deep House. Returning to North Coast with her Deep House Yoga, she will take you on a dynamic movement, self-discovery, connection, and healing journey.

From the beginning, her mission has been to bring together her signature brand: ethereal, soulful, and groovy. Borrowing from a broad selection of styles scored Alissa Jo late-night gigs opening for Nora En Pure, Thomas Jack, Klingande, Sam Feldt & Claptone.

Chicago-based yoga instructor and DJ will host a yoga event at the beginning of each day at The Chill Dome.

ILANA ARIELLA

Ilana Ariella’s natural talent and ear for tunes have brought her career from bedroom to fully-fledged artist. Through COVID, she regularly streamed with her Chicago residency SHFFT and released two original productions, “Rock the Vote” and “Falling Up,” a collab with her SHFFT colleague Shmoo.

Defected Records named her top 100 DJ in their Unsung Heroes contest, beating almost 4000 mix submissions. As well as direct support on numerous occasions to Derrick Carter, DJ Heather, and DJ Lady D & Diz, to name a few. In 2023, she will add ‘Label Boss’ to her list of credentials, launching a digital imprint of her own, “Cheap Talk.’.

LUZI TUDOR

A Romanian Melodic House/Techno DJ and Producer making waves with her clean sound design and fleeting orchestral moments, ultimately giving in to a late-night groove with woozy synths and buzzing energy. Finding solace in the nightlife and rave scene as a refugee from a torn country, her musical journey began by cultivating a wildly creative imagination, resilience, and hard work ethic.

After many years in the underground scene, to embark on her love for DJing and producing. Honing in on her knack for technology has been an advantage in learning how to produce. She brings stealth and lightning-speed intelligence to understand the technical side of DJing and producing, which complements her natural artistic talent and musical ear.

MIANE

Spanish DJ/producer Miane has been taking the house and tech house worlds by storm and was nominated for best breakthrough artist at the 2019 Ibiza DJ Awards. 2021 has seen her productions shine bright, with a year of consistent, strong releases. “Who Are You?” alongside the Chris Lake remix of her track gained more mainstream attention.

Based in Ibiza, Miane’s music has a distinct staple, unique sound that is difficult to put into words. After years of growing her DJ career, she is now focused on producing. Mixing the best features in each of the house’s subgenres, she empowers every one of her tracks. Over her seven years in the industry, her passion and curiosity – both digital and analogic – have made her a complete artist sound-wise.

Her immense talent has put her among the most exciting artists to catch at The Canopy Stage on Sunday.

 

MADDY O’NEAL

“Dirty Funky Bass Music but Make it Pretty”– the motto of the funk-forward bass artist Maddy O’Neal

The vibe and soul of the Maddy O’Neal project combines soundscapes from all across the spectrum of genres. She has managed to carve out her unique lane within the bass community. Rich in texture and atmosphere, her roots in funk and soul shine through in a bed of low-end frequencies. Making for a unique environment for future bass and synth design to tie it all together. Maddy’sexpression was formed through soulful melodic overtones, driven basslines, and glitched-out hip-hop grooves.

PHOX

Phox is a newcomer to the club scene in this city. he has opened with some of the hottest venues in the Midwest, like Chris Lorenzo, J. Philip, and GTA. hox continues to open up minds and inspire a new wave of talented DJs. Her sound is infectious, groovy, and in your face!

ZOSKA

This Chicago Local merges funk, jazz, and bass to produce diverse musical flavors. Growing up in the Midwest, she developed a passion for playing the piano, saxophone, and ukulele. Using Ableton, Zoska seamlessly blends her songwriting abilities with the aesthetics of the contemporary underground bass music world.
