Where did the two of you meet and when did you decide to become a duo?

We met about a year and a half ago. We decided right away.

How did you come up with your name The Chainsmokers?

Avicii was taken, so it just made sense to go with this bad boy.

Which digital audio workstation do you use?

Abelton is the absolute best and we recommend it to everyone.

Who was your inspiration to start producing music?

We both have musical backgrounds, but Deadmau5’s Faxing Berlin was a real inspiration.

What made you decide to get into the EDM scene?

The above answer definitely applies, but there is something very appealing with dance music now in regards to the sonic capabilities. The perfection of various sound waves and the intensity at which you can control them is really amazing to play with as a producer, as well as creating these perfect sounds versus live music. Additionally, we just really like dance music. This isn’t to discredit live music, because there is something magical about that type of show as well.
