Top Hygiene Products for a Show or Festival

What are the top hygiene products for a show or festival? I’ll get to that in a bit but first, I wanted to discuss more around the issue at hand. While there is still much to learn about the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19, you should be sure that you’re using appropriate personal hygiene practices when attending a show or festival.

Based on what is currently known about the virus, it is typically spread from person-to-person in close contact (within about six feet.) The actual transmission is spread via respiratory droplets, meaning infectious particles travel on respiratory droplets that people cough, sneeze, or exhale.

Cleaning visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for the prevention of COVID-19.

  • Cleaning refers to the removal of germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces. It does not kill germs, but removes them, lowers their numbers, and decreases the risk of spreading infection.
  • Disinfecting refers to using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs but kills germs on a surface after cleaning which lowers the risk of spreading infection.

How to Properly Wash Your Hand

Maintain good hand hygiene. You should clean your hands often by washing them with soap and water for 20 seconds. Wet your hands with clean, running water, and then lather them with soap (don’t forget to get the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails).

Scrub for at least 20 seconds and dry your hands with a clean towel, or let them air dry. If soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol may be used.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Are you sneezing or coughing? Direct it into your elbow to avoid leaving germs on your hands which can then quickly spread to other surfaces. Another way to be smart includes using the “Ebola handshake” where you greet others with elbow bumps.
