The Pegboard Nerds Discuss Getting Jumped By Fans & Their Touring Collaboration Process
By: Craig Caliendo

What goes into preparing for a show?

We have specific tracks that we know we want to play, so we make a play list for each show. Although the list contains some of the same tracks from the previous show, we always change it up and add new tracks to it. Every city is different, so you have to play to each crowd. We played in San Francisco where they were really into the heavy stuff, so we are sure to play that same way again when we are there.

What do you look for in the crowd to know that they are enjoying the set?

Energy! You can tell if you are connected to the crowd or not and if they are feeling it. We see how they react.

Do you produce while on the road?

Yes! Always.

What does your production process look like?

Our production process on the road is working in the car or on the bus from the airport to the show, in the airport before we fly out, and on the plane. Anywhere we can work. It gets fragmented, but you get used to it. You make it work.
