Cedric Gervais Discusses His Grammy Win, New Album, and His Role Model

Was winning the Grammy all that you expected it to be?

Yes. It was nerve wracking because you don’t know until you sit there and they say your name that you have won it. I had my whole team with me and my agent who has been with me for 10 years was crying 5 nominees before mine. I was getting more stressed out and I had already been stressed out 2 weeks before. Then they said my name and it was a party after that.

Winning the Grammy is such a huge accomplishment. What is next on your list as far as accomplishments?

I want to go back next year and win another one. Next time, though, I want to win it for an original production.

What are you looking to focus on this year?

I am creating my new album, I just signed a deal with Universal Worldwide, and I am writing right now with a lot of songwriters. That is going to be the focus of this year.

Are you planning on working on a lot of collaborations?

I am working on something with Miley Cyrus right now. It is done, so she will perform it with me and then it will come out in March. That’s about it. After this, I am going to focus on my album.
